But since this was a dream, I wasn't really dead. The aliens kept coming back doing this to me every year! It got routine - my birthday, Christmas, Memorial Day, July 4th, killed by aliens, Labor day, etc. You just can't beat these guys - they are all knowing and super fast.
I was looking at a electronic clock/calendar. The seconds were whizzing by too fast to see, as were the minutes and hours and days. Months were readable, and years were passing about every ten seconds. I was with another guy, and as we watched the calendar I saw his hair turn white.
I decided to go to the bank to deposit my paycheck. For some reason I figured it would be easier to go through the drive-in than to use the ATM, even though I was in no big hurry to deposit the check. There were about 250 people in front of me in line, and still I decided to wait it out rather than walk over to the ATM, which had no line at all. Most of the people in line were on rollerblades or levitated skateboards. I started reading a magazine. I guess what I was reading was very interesting because suddenly I was second in line and I hadn't filled out my deposit ticket yet! I couldn't find a deposit slip so I just endorsed the check and wrote the account number on it, but it was the wrong number. The pen was running out of ink and I kept trying to correct the number but I couldn't remember it for sure and I kept making mistake after mistake. Then I noticed that it was dark, the bank was closed anyway, and I was in front of the ATM machine. It's just me and a guy on a skateboard. Somehow I got the stupid machine to take my check and I hoped the bank could sort it out the next day.
Then the aliens showed up! So instead of being with the actress, I'm with this clown on a skateboard. Turns out he's her boyfriend. The aliens have been killing him every year too and this year he's made preparations. We let the aliens see us and they chased us in their UFO. He's half buried a 55 gallon trash drum in the ground and raked up huge ten foot leaf piles all around it. We both jumped into the trash can and pulled the lid over top, then slipped out of a trap door he cut in the side and tunneled through the leaves. We emerged from the leaves into the sunlight and watched as the aliens bombed the trash can, blowing it to pieces. Then the actress sailed above us on a magic carpet about 50 feet up and the aliens didn't recognize her. She's oblivious, on her way to the mall or something. She sailed out of sight.
The aliens spotted us and we ran into a fancy high rise hotel/office building. It's very elegant and huge. Beautifully decorated. There were no straight walls, everything curved, and the ceilings were even carpeted. The aliens were on foot now, in their human form, chasing us around the hotel through the winding corridors. We keep making turns but couldn't get away. As I ran I rolled obstacles out in the hall behind us. I remember hurling a chair behind me and hearing the aliens curse as they tripped over it. We split up. I dove down the stairway head first, bouncing down from landing to landing, then I zipped down several corridors and into a telephone equipment room I knew about. There was a hidden panel in the carpeted ceiling. I quickly slid it back, climbed in and closed it. I had entered the secret security office for the building. There was a very sophisticated viewing machine/weapon in there that would let you zoom in on any area of the building and shoot at whatever you saw. I turned it on and kept trying to get it to work but all I could see was an unsightly yellow wax buildup, like the janitor had cleaned the lens with Mop and Glo too many times. I gave up.
The aliens found me and were shooting their awful oxygen sucking darts everywhere. Knowing I was going to die anyway, I changed my body into a terrible weapon. I hid in a cabinet. When they entered the room I cut loose, firing hundreds of rounds a second from every part of my body. The cabinet splintered in front of me and fell to pieces. My body disintegrated but I kept shooting. The aliens were toast, shot full of holes and staggering backwards towards what used to be a picture window. I had fired so many bullets that the window and in fact the whole wall had been blown out. I kept shooting until the aliens fell backwards out the building and dropped hundreds of feet to the pavement. Served them right.
