I paid top dollar for my cat. brand new from the HUMANE Society, he cost me $40. Still, he had fleas, and worms, and a respiratory infection. He got even sicker and wouldn't eat, and weighed less than one pound. The HUMANE Society told me not to worry, if he dies you get a new cat, free! I passed on their generous offer and took him to the vet, who charged me $100 for Special Cat Pills for his infection. I gave him the pills, but he still wouldn't eat.
Starlene suggested that I feed him baby food (Gerber Stage 2 Beef). He ate that, and he lived, in spite of the HUMANE Society and the Special Cat Pills. Today, more than five years later, Walter weighs as much as a lawnmower.
A few years later, Mom's old cat got a gum infection and wouldn't eat. Mom took her to the vet and paid $100 for the Special Cat Pills. The cat still wouldn't eat, till I offered her the baby food. She was restored to her normal self in a short time.
